Well we knew that this year would be a testing one for Rallying and motorsport in general. The ongoing recession is without doubt, causing many rally car owners to question the wisdom of competing when the sport has seemingly become more expensive.

We had similar doubts in early in 2009 but the events on the rallying calendar were in the main fairly well supported. This support did not reflect in the entries in the many rally championships. Competitors were inclined to do one event and see how they fared out in doing the next one in their region or perhaps a favourite event.

The promoting clubs of the TRITON SHOWERS South East Stages Rally Championship would appeal to competitors

The Ravens Rock Rally took place in Carrick-on-Suir, Count Tipperary on June 27th 2010.

It's past the halfway stage of the 2010 TRITON SHOWERS South East Stages Rally Championship and the championship has take on a settled look. Of course there has been only one tarmac round to date whilst all three of the forestry rounds have had the dust settled in their wake. And thereby hangs the story for loose / dual surface rally championships for the coming years. Yes those who promote these forestry events are in the early stages of planning their events for 2011. ( The dates meeting for the 2011 calendar will have been held by the time this is published). The balance sheets for 2010 are not pretty and there will be much soul searching done before any firm decision will be made in relation to these events for 2011. Enough about that for now...

The final round of the 2010 TRITON SHOWERS South East Stages Rally Championship, the Dick Bailey Wexford Stages Rally, is the only two day event of the Championship. For the first time since the championships inception the destiny of the overall award has already been decided. But that will not take from the championship as there are so many more places to be decided before the dust settles on the final stage.
